Blog Activity 5

Welcome back all,

The use of social media in the retail sector has been undergoing various changes in the recent past. A number of retailers have taken to the social media platforms to ensure that they keep abreast with the developments of their trade and to engage with their customers. This has enabled them advance their trade and satisfy the needs of their customers.
K- Mart for instance has been able to associate with its customers in influencing their purchases and how they buy them. This is an association that is pegged on the strategy that the retailers have in affecting the sales in the market. Therefore, in the process of achieving their strategy, they will do the best to ensure that this is achieved by exploiting the social media as one of the platforms.

Again, the same retailer has been able to advertise their products through the platforms as well as to develop the content strategy for the years that are ahead of them.

As part of the leadership style that has been taken up by the K Mart retail chain, the style of leadership has been that of collaboration and consideration of what the clients want. This has been pegged so much on social media where opinions are taken and they are analysed by the management for the benefit of the retail chain.

The connection they have had with the community is also commendable in many respects. The community, through the engagement they have on social media feels part of the business and this play a role of ensuring that their professionalism is in accordance with the culture of the community.

  1. I agree with the idea of Kmart's social media. And I'm pretty sure Kmart is one of the successful budinesses in Australia, and also it's attempting to obtain benefits from Mckinsey's social technology levers. However, you may need to describe the social media they implemented little bit in details. For instance, why they use it and how?
    Regards,
